What happens during detoxification (5)

The dietary instructor said that most people who came to the Center wanted to lose weight. Probably most people don’t know what detox means, either. My work is natural healing, but I am not clear about the details of how our bodies detox either. During the 5:30 health lecture, the dietary instructor talked about topics such as detoxification, or illness that arise from over eating.  Later when I asked him more about these topics, I understood a little bit better.  I was interested because I thought, if I want to continue smaller meals when I return home, I need to understand the causal relationships better.

Ellen:  What is the retained fecal mass? (I heard this term for the first time at the afternoon lecture.)

Fasting Instructor: There are two types. Typically it means stool that is old and is left in the intestines.  The second type comes from the burning of body fat during a fast. It could not be used during daily life so this fat is the most easily stored in the body. Fat cells that could not be stored are sent to the intestines as waste products. This fat in the intestines is the second meaning of retained fecal matter.

Ellen: According to what I had heard at the lecture the other day, elimination of retained fecal mass during a water fast is an ideal. If you don’t do a water fast, will the retained fecal mass not be eliminated?

Fasting Instructor:  In either a juice fast or a water fast, the retained fecal mass will come out eventually.

Ellen:  But for a water fast, I heard it takes 40 days for the retained fecal masks come out. I am doing a partial fast for only 24 days. It sounds like I don’t have enough time.

Fasting Instructor: When you return home you have to practice what you learned here. If you are still not happy with your results you can return for another fast here. At home your body condition will change, so the next time you do a fast it will be different.

Furthermore, given your current body condition if you did a water fast now, you would lack energy to detoxify. So it is better to fast at your own pace.

Later the Fasting Instructor explain the retained fecal mass as follows:

Retain fecal mass is the basis of all disease. Depending on how clean your colon is, the condition of your blood will change. Even if you have a good stool every day, your retained equal mass will not be eliminated. If you are the type of person who has to eat until his stomach is full to have a good bowel movement, only a small portion of the intestines will move when you pass a stool. That means the retained fecal mass will not be affected. When the retain fecal matter is eliminated during a fast, the entire large intestines moves and eliminates everything in it. (Ellen: To do that, your intestines have to be in very good shape. This means that what is in your intestines has to be fully digested. If you fast, the adhesions of old fecal matter are eliminated because the movement of the intestines becomes more effective.  You can’t be leaving a lot of undigested material there. I know no one thinks of their intestines as being clean. But depending on how well you chew, what you eat, how much you eat, ect., the condition of your intestines can be very different.)

For example, if you eat brown rice, your retained fecal mass does not smell very much. Depending on what you eat, the smell of your retained fecal mass changes. In the worst case, if you eat lots of oil, your retained fecal mass become like a black liquid. This black oil cannot easily be washed off the toilet. People who are extremely cold all the time, typically eliminate a lot of retained fecal mass.

Overeating increases the amount of retained fecal mass. Simply put, what your body is not able to completely consume what you have eaten, it stores the waste material in your fat. This is an extreme example, but if you eat nothing but cakes and candy in very small amounts, you will not retain fecal mass. You probably won’t feel very good, however. At the opposite end of the spectrum, the retained fecal mass will be of much higher quality if you are eating only brown rice.

Ellen: How do you calculate the amount that is appropriate for a small meal?

Fasting Instructor: If a full stomach is 10 then you want to be full up to six or seven. A full stomach means you are satisfied for with the amount of your food. You nolonger feel hunger. If you eat this way every day and also exercise, eventually your retained fecal matter will be eliminated. If your stomach is only full up to five, then you will still be hungry. But you can’t eat too quickly. After eating carbohydrates, it takes 10 to 15 minutes for your blood sugar to rise. So if you don’t wait 10 to 15 minutes your blood sugar will remain low, and you will still feel hungry.
